Ginsburg, Christian David

   British biblical scholar. He was born in Warsaw. He converted to Christianity in 1846 and settled in England, where he wrote studies of the masoretic text of the Bible; his The Massorah contains the original text of the masorah as well as additional notes. He also published standard editions of the Hebrew Bible, contributed to a new critical Hebrew Bible text, wrote commentaries on several books of the Bible, and produced studies of the Karaites and kabbalistic literature.
